Are you one of those who seek an elevated heart rate? Well, these activities treat extreme sports lovers to just what they’re seeking. Everything you need for a high-adrenaline adventure is waiting in Tirol in a day, including adventure venues and companies and outfitters eager to provide a rush. No experience and equipment necessary. Here are eight ideas to get you started.

Paragliding

Paragliding lets you see Tirol’s spectacular scenery from a bird’s eye view. It’s easy — tandem paragliding in Tirol offers one-of-a-kind views of the country’s best mountain scenery. Several adventure tour companies offer lessons for first-timers, so no previous flight experience is necessary. Wilder Kaiser Region, Zillertal and Stubaital Valleys, Wildschönau and Lienz in East Tirol are perfect spots for paragliding.

Wakeboarding

Looking for some unusual fun on the water this summer? Newly opened in 2016, the outdoor park of Area 47 boasts Tirol’s one and only wakeboard cable system. No experience is necessary and all equipment is provided. Learn to wakeboard or just enjoy—the cable wake park is for any skill level and any age, and you are sure to have a blast!

Bungy Jumping

Do you dare? Jumping off Europe Bridge attracts hundreds of thrill-seekers every year. It’s not for the faint-hearted, but it’s an experience you’ll never forget. A little less spectacular yet enough adrenaline to help you get your heart pumping is the leap off Benni-Raich-Bridge in Pitztal Valley.

Kite Surfing

If you’re fond of the water but also like to get air-borne, try kite surfing. Harnessed to a paragliding-style kite with a small board attached to their feet, kite surfers race across the face of wind – mainly on the water and at times in the air. The stunning lakeside scenery of Achensee Lake and one-day instruction makes kite surfing all the more enjoyable.

Bike Parks

Mountain biking enthusiasts searching out adventure and technical challenges will find breathtaking Bike Parks in Tirol. Wipptal Valley is the go to place for adrenaline-seeking freeriders and downhillers while novice riders will find plenty of fun throughout the Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis Bike Park with exciting and family-friendly trails designed for every age and level. The Bike Shop at the base of the Gondola is the place to get suited up with the right protective equipment with your bike rental.

Canyoning

Love playing in water? Descend a canyon, doing whatever is necessary to reach the bottom, whilst having a ball and marvelling at the rugged beauty of towering canyon walls, fast flowing water and pounding cascades. You’ll descend by abseiling/rappelling waterfalls, plunging into natural pools, floating down narrow passageways and cascading down chutes, all in beautiful natural surroundings. One of Austria’s most popular places for Canyoning is Auerklamm Canyon near Taxegg in Ötztal Valley.

Aerial Adventure Parks

There’s nothing like a day at one of Tirol’s amazing Aerial Adventure Parks. The treetop trails consist of platforms installed in the trees and connected by various configurations of cable, wood and rope to form “crossings” of different kinds including the ever-popular zip lines. The aerial trails welcome challenge levels from child through adult.

Whitewater Rafting

Whitewater rafting is a must-do activity in Tirol. One of Europe’s most popular whitewater rafting destinations is the Imst Canyon. Experienced guides and tour providers ensure that you get the most exciting and safe experience. Tours range from family-friendly float trips to white-knuckle whitewater and everything in between :).
